Personal Development training for your success!
Self Discipline- You Can’t Succeed Without It
Discipline is what governs a person. Self-discipline is regarded as a great weapon for success because it gives you the power to achieve anything.
Without self-discipline, it is difficult—and perhaps even impossible—to attain success.
What Makes a Self Disciplined Person?
Let us look at an athlete, in his or her own quest for the gold medal. Athletes work all their lives just to be able to get this highly coveted medal.
Many of these people have had to train since they were very young. However, they are able to go through everything because they are equipped with these weapons:
• Vision: High achievers should know how to see what lies ahead for them. They see their goals to the very end, and they do not stop until they get there. Many people do not have dreams.
It is quite sad, but these people never get to achieve anything. They have become so accustomed to the poor quality of their lives, that they have found comfort in it.
The self-disciplined person on the other hand, does not just have dreams playing in his or her head, this person has these dreams fulfilled, has seen it in actuality and believe that it is theirs, for the taking.
• Purpose: Dreams and goals are nothing if there is no purpose. When you want to achieve something, you should also determine why you want to accomplish it. The purpose is the root and the peak of all your fulfillments.
Once all your dreams have come true, you should have attained and completed your purpose. In other words, your purpose this one thing that you want --- the most.
• A plan: To be able to take the journey a person has set himself /herself to take, he/she will make sure to lay out a plan that will serve as a guide through it all.
• A good mentor: A good mentor is important. A good mentor is someone whom you can base your own life with. You can study their lives and their strategies.
You can pattern your lives to theirs, and let yourself be guided by their own achievements. It is required of every achiever to study their mentor’s work.
To be able to formulate a strategy that will work, you need a “template” to follow.
• Patience and Perseverance: You should be able to tell yourself, convince yourself and believe that it going to happen. The journey is not going to be easy but a self-disciplined person will wait for things to unfold.
This person’s strength and sense and purpose will not falter. He or she will continue to move towards personal goal, even if others have chosen to go the other way.
Self-discipline give any person the power that helps them achieve great things for themselves. Sometimes, it is the only weapon you need in order to break free from your stagnant and uninteresting existence in this world.
A self-disciplined person does will not stop or give up when faced with hurdles because this person knows better.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Insightful!"
By Rolf Dobelli "getAbstract.com" (Switzerland) -
Prioritizing the building blocks of life - family, work, money and time - is paramount to happiness. Some people do it unconsciously by living within their intellectual and monetary expectations.
Others need a framework for balance, such as the one that authors A. Roger Merrill and Rebecca R. Merrill provide. To achieve personal balance, the authors suggest becoming a better team player, working more effectively, learning about finances and setting home and work priorities.
They establish the goal of building a strong family, centered around parental "family leadership." Do they successfully address the knotty issues they raise? Yes, in a folksy way. This is a useful self-help manual with checklists, self-assessments and personal anecdotes, which are sometimes touching, but sometimes impractical or saccharine.
Though the management advice dons motivational language, the sections on family and work are particularly worthwhile. The authors deliver a solid antidote to misplaced modern values, albeit wrapped in some fluffy trappings.
We recommend this book to corporate officers and human resource personnel, as well as to individuals seeking balance.

"Many practical suggestions for immediate improvement"
By Marijo Puleo "Marijo Puleo, PhD" (Belmar, NJ)
I used to recommend "Difficult Conversations", and now this is the #1 book that I will recommend. Alson and Burnett give many practical suggestions on how to navigate conflict, and help us understand the entire field that we tread when we encounter these situations. The book is very easy to navigate and a great reference tool.
The book begins with an excellent overview of "what is conflict". They then work through this topic from every angle -
- Our own role in the conflict (and how to change our mindset)
- The role of the other person (and potentially "invisible" players)
- If this is really about the present situation, or the past (which is more often the case)
The second half of the book is dedicated to providing very practical advice on transforming the conversation and they walk you through the conversation step by step - creating an opening, communicating needs, engaging the other person to co-create the solution, reframing the conversation, and negotiating the conflict.
If this were an "eBook", I would DEFINITELY have this on my laptop and keep it near as I do my consulting work.
This is one of those life lesson areas that we practice all the time, and often with less than stellar results. Buy the book, you won't regret it!

Make Change Positive++
Coach Yourself to Success : 101 Tips from a Personal Coach for Reaching Your Goals at Work and in Life [Paperback]
Customer Review:
5.0 out of 5 stars "Changes I can make"
By M McCubbin (Colorado)
The best thing about this book is that the authors suggestions not only sound good on paper, but envisioning doing them doesnt seem either daunting nor ludicrous, but in fact, feasible and even, gads, smart.
This book is not idiotic pap about 'have a positive attitude' but actually provides manageable steps any human being can take to, at the very least, make living easier and more manageable.
The author's advice can be applied at work and at home, and, while it's still too early to tell for sure, I believe some of those quick, easy changes have already made my life easier.
On the whole I hate self-help career books because they provide too many platitudes followed by suggestions that my boss would not be pleased to see in his office.
TM's suggestions are real-world ideas, for actual human beings with actual jobs and Dilbert bosses. She makes sense on a rational level as well as a functional one.
I don't see this book sitting gathering dust on my shelf anytime soon. I see myself rereading it a few pages a day for the next ten years. Thanks, TM, for this useful tool.
