Putting Your Personal Development Plan to Work for You
How to create and stick to your plan for selfgrowth.
As you embark on this journey to better yourself, you’re going to encounter a lot of friction. Sometimes with yourself and sometimes with others.
You may second guess yourself about some of the big changes you’re making in your Personal Development Plan, and it’ll be hard because you’ll be getting out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes you’ll be moving along content in your journey and someone will chime in with their opinions about what you should or shouldn’t be doing and telling you how to do it better.
Be grateful that they care enough to provide you with their insight, thank them, and them continue on your path as you see fit. You don’t need to engage in an argument with someone who isn’t aware of every element you’re dealing with in your life.
Work on one self development goal at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to look perfect, have an optimistic attitude 100% of the time, rake in tons of monetary wealth and make everyone like you in one day.
Pick the area you feel needs the most work and chip away at it until you’ve mastered it to your own personal satisfaction. Then move on to the next most important goal you have in mind and work on that.
Don’t be afraid to admit one self help tactic didn’t work for you and then try something else. For example, you might try counseling and end up feeling awkward talking to a stranger. Then you try self hypnosis and you feel more in touch with yourself than ever before!
You may choose to share your Personal Development Plan with others. This is fine as long as the person you’re sharing with won’t turn the tables on you whenever you falter.
For example, if you tell your mom that you’re going on a diet to lose 20 pounds, and then she raises an eyebrow when you have a brownie at a family get together, or scolds you, it can hamper your results.
Becoming a better person means you need to first think about what kind of person you want to be. Don’t set unrealistic expectations of yourself.
Make your goals doable and easy at first and work on the harder issues as time goes on.
Soon, you’ll feel great about the life that you’re living and the person that you’ve become. And you can spread the word to others who are in the same boat about how you changed your life and achieved the kind of success you’ve always wanted.

How to Kickstart Your Day
Have you heard people say, “He woke up on the wrong side of the bed”? When someone says that, it means that this person looks like he is having a bad day and so he is grumpy or irritated.
They say that the quality of the day you will have will be dependent on how you start it. If you start your day right, then you can expect your day to go well until the end.
Therefore, it is important to make an effort to plan how best to kickstart your day.
There is probably no way to guarantee a good day, but there are things that you can do to make sure that you start your day right.
• Start your day early: If you want to achieve a lot of things today, then what are you still doing in bed at noontime?
Have you not heard of the saying, “the early bird, catches the worm”? If you wake up too late, all the worms will have been caught and none will be left for you to take.
You start your early because:
* It will enable you to do more things
* It will give you a head start
* You will not be rushing and rather be more relaxed
• Meditate: A lot of importance is also given to meditation. It is a great way to relax your mind and prepare yourself for the stresses that this day will bring. You can do your meditation while listening to music or you can do it in total silence.
• Eat well: Of course, every machine will need fuel to function, and your fuel is food. You need food in order to have the right energy to face your day well.
You need food because the brain does not function well without proper nutrients, and also because your entire body depends on it.
Many people skip breakfast because they are in a hurry, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you should not skip it.
• Exercise: Exercising releases endorphins that keeps a person happy. When you are happy, you will be more pleasant. When a person is pleasant, he/she enjoys everything he or she does, and when you enjoy what you do, you do a good job at it.
It is nice to exercise, not only because it conditions your attitude, but because it also keeps you healthy.
• Plan your day: It is also important for you to maximize your day. There may be twenty-four hours in a day, but if you do not use your time wisely, those twenty-four hours can very well just be wasted.
To be able to maximize your day, you need to write a short to do list, so that you can accomplish everything that you have to do, for the day.
• Motivate yourself: Celebrate the new day by whispering words of affirmations to yourself. This may sound quite ridiculous but it really works.
It kicks out all the bad vibes that may be creeping inside you. Look into the mirror and whisper motivational and encouraging words to yourself.

Many people advocate life long learning and the process of reaching your full potential, but generally no one knows how to do that. This book is designed for individuals from middle school to retirement age and provides them with step by step assessments, worksheets and exercises to reach their potential.
This book is broken down in five subject topics, and fifteen chapters to provide an easy systematic approach to personal and professional development. The five subject matters are: Developing Your Potential in Emotional, Intellectual, Physical and Social realms with the fifth unit entitled Developing Your Action Plan.
This book has been wonderful in meeting the needs of four different educational and training areas. First as a personal self help book.
Second as a textbook for a college level one-hour class entitled Professional Image Development offered through the Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
Third as an in-house book for career and personal growth seminars within private industry. And fourth, as a resource book, accessible to all employees, checked out from a Corporate Learning Center library.
The book does not have religious growth. The authors state that religious growth is outside the realm of the book. This makes the book perfect for the diverse workforce and student population.
The book does have a companion guide for instructors: Reaching Your Potential, an Instructor's Guide.

"Many excellent suggestions that you'll be able to put to use"

its promise was a big one;i.e., to present "8 Power Principles to Create a Life of Meaning and Abundance."
But the authors deliver--and then some . . . they give many
excellent suggestions that are applicable in almost any situation.
I also like their contention that success can be yours if you
can learn more about and begin to apply the skills of awareness,
responsibility and communication . . . moreover, they add that
"even a small improvement in understanding and application
will make a huge difference in your experience of living."
Among the many fine ideas that I got from listening were these:
Before your head hits the pillow tonight, ask yourself: What do I wish
I had said or done? Then say or do it now!
Imagine if you were participating 100%. Do so.
There's a world of difference between watching things happen and
making things happen.
Creating an extraordinary life requires 100% commitment.
You can accomplish very little yourself. You need the help and
support of others.
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.
The idea that you can cause somebody else to suffer with your
anger is an illusion.
A "have to" attitude sets you up for negative feelings. Instead,
say "I choose to." (For example, when thinking about going to work
in the morning.)
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what
you've got.
Get used to saying: I acknowledge your point of view. Here's my
point of view.
Building the right mental attitude
Setting a right mental attitude will take a series of processes.
It is not sufficient to have a positive attitude although having a positive attitude can help overturn your negative emotions. It is not sufficient to have determination and resoluteness.
It is not simply persistence and belief. It is a combination of all these behaviors and much more to ensure the right mental attitude. You can start developing the right mental attitude as a youngster and enhance your qualities as you grow older.
There is no end to the process. Since changes occur often, you have to continually assess and improve on your traits and behavior.
Here are some steps to help you create the right mental attitude.
Set the goal in place.
Put boundaries and fix the scope of the objective. Without the boundaries, you cannot determine if you achieved your goal.
The size and type of goal will also put in perspective the efforts required to achieve the goal and help you determine if the goal is realistically achievable. It is useless defining a goal that you cannot achieve. Bring others into the picture.
Get other people involved in achieving the goal.
Their support may be because they want to help you or they believe in the goal and want to achieve it also.
In either case, there is a close collaboration and interrelationship with other people. Having people involved in the same objective makes it easier to attain the right attitude.
Tell people of the prior milestones and how each milestone was achieved successfully.
Explain how prospective milestones can be achieved.
Have the people believe that success is possible and every small accomplishment should be recognized and rewarded. The small and continuous successes can create a momentum effect and have people moving faster in the right direction.
Show enthusiasm and eagerness over the benefits that can be derived from achieving the goal. When people understand the reasons why you are so eager to accomplish your objective, they may feel the same sentiments and encourage others to join.
Make the goals visual and clear.
An abstract concept is hard to pin down and imagine. It will lead to misunderstandings and misinterpretations and eventually lead to confusion. People have to “see” the goal clearly.
They have to be able to visualize the value and benefits that can be derived from accomplishing the objective. Make sure everyone can “see the picture” clearly and vividly.
You should take the time and effort to ensure everyone is attuned to the same objective. Enthusiasm, hope and desire will fall into place once people see and understand what they are aiming for.
Don’t lose sight of the goal.
People may get distracted from the goal. Keep them always focused on the objective. Ask them to guide you if they see you wandering and going astray from the goals. A close interrelationship will strengthen the bonds between people.
These activities and interactions will set the environment to build the right attitudes not only within yourself but among the group. Helping one another will bring out the positive traits and behavior of each person.
A close interpersonal bond will help maintain the right attitude across the members in the team and move them faster towards the goal.

I have tried many products over he years and MindSpa is by far the most effective product I have used and I have tried a lot of them.
If you are new to these light and sound machines, it is really worth the try. Here my explanation... They work very simply by mimicking the rhythms of the brain in a natural way.
It's a bit like biofeedback, except all you need to do is sit back, close your eyes and let the flickering light do the work along with these pleasing background sounds. You can see the light through closed eyelids and they help you shift into the relaxed, or "alpha brainwave" state.
I find MindSpa very easy to use right out of the box. I found after the first couple of weeks use, once or twice a day for about 20 minutes, my sleep had significantly improved and I generally feel much better overall.
Within a few minutes, it quickly puts me in a deeply relaxed state. It is easier than trying to learn how to meditate and better than using meds. Now that I have been using it for a much longer while, it really works as advertised.
The manual is quite complete and there is a great deal of additional information on their website that is very helpful. There are also many customer reviews on their website which gives a lot of confidence that it is as effective as claimed.
There are other similar machines on the market with bells and whistles, but I find them difficult to use and their manuals are confusing written for engineers. I love it! It is well worth the investment.
